Installation
When you purchase a made-to-measure lighting unit, you will receive approximately one fixing bracket per 1,000 mm of lighting.

Plan View of Wall Showing Example Bracket Spacing

The spacing of the fixing brackets is one bracket 450 mm in from each end, with the remainder spaced equally across the length of the unit. The brackets should be positioned as close to the top of the sign as possible. Use a string line to make sure they are parallel (see illustration).

Insight does not provide fixings for fitting the brackets, but would advise you to ensure that the fixings used are suitable for the surface material. Once all brackets are secure, you simply lift the lighting unit up on to the clip section, resting the back on the cam, then press down and inwards to snap into position. If the unit is more than one section, sleeve them together over the joining piece. Once the joints are perfect, you can now lock the lighting into position by tightening the locking screw on the bracket—do not over-tighten, as this will buckle the clip, making it inoperative. Never use a clip that has been bent, then re-straightened.

Please note that no more than eighteen 5' lamps (or equivalent wattage in other sizes) can be operated per feed. Before connecting in the mains cable, you must connect overlapping cables into the connector blocks provided (if the lighting is more than one section). Then connect the mains supply in through the rubber grommet, into the connector block provided at the right hand side (making sure power is turned off). Once you have tested the unit, fit the diffuser panels (if you have removed them) and the end caps, remembering to re-fit the locking screws in each cap. Finally, clean down the unit and carefully silicone down the joints of the extrusion to prevent water ingress.
Uplighters are not usually recommended, but are available in T8 only. If you have specified this you will also have to silicone all joints of the diffuser panels as well as the extrusion (rubber gaskets plus end cap gaskets will be fitted, and 6 mm diameter drip holes will have been drilled every 450 mm of length).
