As the originators of extruded aluminium trough lighting, the challenges of adapting to a whole new concept in lighting were taken seriously, but found to be very beneficial in terms of design. The fact that our Lumirescent™ lamps do not require ballast units or reflectors saved a great deal of space inside our new lighting unit, not to mention savings in energy consumption and weight. This allowed us to design a small, stylish unit which can be very quickly assembled and installed, while also being ‘green’ and affordable. We took advantage of the light weight of the unit by designing a stylishly curved, single-piece extruded bracket. Compared with the modular bracket used by the existing Highlight T5 and T8, having one piece limits the capability for illuminating deeper fascias (we would recommend around 1,200 mm as the optimum fascia depth for Highlight Eco-star), but many of our customers tended to choose the smallest bracket size anyway in spite of our recommendations, so this should suit them. Also, due to customers requests for 'horizontal' fixing plates at the rear of the bracket, we have reduced the size of the fixing plate to the minimum possible while still retaining a strong fixing. We have not gone 'horizontal' as this would greatly reduce stability of fixing (gravity and wind can cause problems with horizontal fixings).
