The Bespoke banner encompasses many things, from simple customisation of our existing Spectra and Wayfinder products (i.e. signcases with curved corners, or post and panel signs with curved tops), to hybrid creations involving parts of both systems, with additional custom metal work, to CNC routed built up lettering and many more variations besides.

One of the most popular elements of the Bespoke banner is customisation of our existing extrusions to add shape to the normally linear form. At its simplest, this may involve mitring the extrusions at angles other than the normal 90° (see Designer Outlet photo below). More recently however, there has been a great demand for more complex shapes. This can range from simple curved corners on a signcase, or an arched top on a post and panel sign (both shown above), to oval cases or even large flex-faced letters (minimum size around 900 mm). In addition to this, it is possible to create signs that will, for example, follow the curve of a convexed or concaved fascia.

In order to be able to shape the extrusions, we must create flexibility along the required area by making notches with a circular saw. Now pliable, the extrusion can then be shaped as required, and then secured in position by welding.

Our twin-head 3,000 x 2,000 mm CNC router assists us in the manufacture of high quality bespoke work, allowing us to quickly and accurately create parts such as shaped back trays or bowed trims etc for use in conjunction with shaped boxes etc. More importantly however, it can cut lettering such as press-through acrylic letters for stencil-cut panels, or even the faces for built-up letters which are then constructed by hand.

Many profiles across Insight's vast range of extrusions were designed to be able to integrate with one another, offering great potential for more individual looking signs. Our new 3,000 mm CNC folding system further expands this potential with its advanced capabilities for folding metal sheets, even allowing for curved folding.
